"Excellent company/staff and clean comfortable transport."
We had 3 separate trips booked with Reykjavik Excursions, the first was the Northern Lights trip on Dec 1st. Our guide was most interesting and informative, she skilfully managed our expectations and we very fortunate on the night to see a spectacular Aurora Borealis. The bus was hastily rerouted to an interim viewing place to ensure we got to see the lights before going to the designated viewing place where we were lucky to enjoy a wonderful display.

"Do Not Miss This Tour Out"
Another must do tour if you come to Reykjavik. We were incredibly lucky as it was a very clear night. The lights were visible for about five minutes and it was amazing. Definitely wrap up for this as it was freezing cold. It was so cold that my DSLR batteries froze and died. There were also waffles and hot chocolate available. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Would definitely do again.

Algengar spurningar

Each month has its own advantages for Northern Lights viewing.

September offers milder weather, but it gets dark later in the evening, so you'll have less time for sightings. October to February are ideal for long, dark nights, giving more opportunities to see the lights. However, these months tend to have more cloud cover, which can affect visibility. March is colder but often clearer, offering good conditions for aurora viewing. Overall, the entire winter season—from late August to mid-April—is the best time to experience the Northern Lights, with each month presenting its own unique conditions.

If the Northern Lights don’t appear, we’ll email you with easy instructions on how to rebook. Simply visit www.re.is/rebook, enter your booking number, and select a new date for your tour.
Northern Lights tour can be canceled when the weather or aurora forecast suggests poor visibility or low chances of seeing the lights. It’s not in our interest to take you out in unfavorable conditions. While cancellations can be frustrating, standing outside in bad weather with little to no chance of seeing the aurora would be far worse. When we cancel, we offer the option of a full refund or the chance to rebook. We only operate this tour when we believe there’s a good chance of success, as our goal is to create happy customers, not disappointment.
While we only operate the tour when forecasts are promising, we still can’t guarantee a sighting of the Northern Lights. If the tour runs but the lights don’t appear, a refund isn’t possible. However, your ticket is valid for two years, allowing you to rebook for another date. Simply save your booking number and visit www.re.is/rebook to choose a new tour when you return.
Typically, we travel about an hour from the city, but this depends on cloud cover. When skies are clear, we head to the nearest spot with low or no light pollution. However, if needed, we'll drive as far as necessary to find a break in the clouds and clear skies. The exact direction is decided shortly before departure, based on the latest weather and aurora forecasts, to give you the best chance of seeing the Northern Lights.
If you don't have your voucher in your email and have no information about your booking number, please call us and have the information ready on when you were originally booked and under which name your tour was booked.

The Northern Lights can sometimes appear as vibrant as they do in photos, especially when they’re very active—you might see stunning colors like green, pink, and purple with your own eyes. However, at times, the lights can be faint, and the human eye may only catch pale shades of green, grey, or white. Cameras, on the other hand, can capture much more detail and color, thanks to long exposure settings. Even if the lights are subtle, your camera can reveal the true beauty of the aurora. Our guides will be there to help you capture the best possible shots with your phone or camera, so you don’t miss the magic.
