Itinerary - South Shore Adventure
We begin our tour at the BSI bus terminal in downtown Reykjavik, heading towards Hvolsvöllur on a scenic ride that takes about an hour and a half. At Hvolsvöllur, we’ll take a short break where you can grab some snacks and use the facilities.
Our first major stop is Skógafoss, one of Iceland's most iconic waterfalls. Skógafoss is not only a breathtaking sight but also the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls hiking trail into Þórsmörk. You might recognize it from films like Thor: The Dark World and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Next, we’ll visit Vík, a charming village with a population of about 300, known for its dramatic bird cliffs and stunning coastal scenery.
We'll also stop at Reynisfjara, Iceland’s famous black sand beach. Here, you'll see the striking Reynisdrangar sea stacks and impressive columnar basalt formations. While it's a beautiful location, we kindly remind our guests to stay safe by following guidelines and avoiding getting too close to the unpredictable waves.
Afterward, we head to Sólheimajökull glacier, where you can walk up to a serene lake that has formed in front of the retreating glacier, offering a close-up view of this stunning natural wonder.
Our final stop is at Seljalandsfoss, a unique waterfall that originates from the Eyjafjallajökull glacier. What makes Seljalandsfoss special is the opportunity to walk behind the waterfall for a truly memorable experience. We recommend bringing a raincoat or waterproof jacket if you plan to walk behind the falls.
